Better Serving Those Who Serve

Linda and I know, first-hand, the difficulties faced by military service members and their families. There are hardships that come both with shipping out and coming home, and the time in between is often unspeakable.

Today, as we celebrate our country’s independence, I am again reminded of the tremendous sacrifices being made, each and every day, by our military service men and women.

I ask that you join me in expressing sincere gratitude for the freedoms afforded by their brave and noble sacrifices and in praying for the safe and swift return of each of our men and women in uniform.

But gratitude alone is not enough.

I ask also that you support efforts to better serve those who serve us all, including expanded treatment, more accessible education and streamlined services for troops and their families.

As Governor, I am committed to the service of our active and retired military. You can read my plans here , and you can also read about Linda’s recently announced DOORS initiative , which will Deliver Opportunities for Oklahoma’s Returning Service men and women.

On behalf of the Edmondson family, happy Independence Day to you and your family. My wish is that next year, we might all be able to celebrate on American soil.
